Our Structure

Faith in a Basin Future is a Movement Project that operates under a number of accountability structures within the project itself and with out partners.

Essentially there are 4 parts to the Project:

At the community level are what we are calling (until they tell us what they want to call themselves) Community Action Teams.

These teams comprise Champions and Mentors. Champions are people aged 16 to 35 who want to develop a project for their community.Mentors are people who may want to support the FBF objectives but have other commitments or are  older than the 16 - 35 year age group we identify for the Champions.

The Mentors are part of their local Action Team and also a regional group called at present the Community Mentors Panel. Mentors can work across a number of teams depending on their particular skills and interests. Mentors can just be supporters of the project as well.

The next level is the FBF Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee  is in development but comprises representatives from each Community Action team and the Community Mentors panel. it meets under the chairperson-ship of an appointee of the Faith in a Basin Future Reference Group. The inaugural chairperson is Austin Evans.

The Steering Committee has responsibility for the progress of the Action Teams in developing their projects and coordinating their development and training through the Project manager. the project manager is currently Neil Barber who has been  seconded from Uniting(Care's) Strategic engagement unit Community Development Team. Mr Paul Creek, Secretary of the Uniting Church Riverina presbytery is also a member of this Committee.

The next level is the FBF Reference group.

The Reference Group is a a consortium of church and other partners who are supporting the FBF project. Currently the main partners are the Uniting Church NSW.ACT Synod through board of Uniting Mission and Education (UME) as part of its UnitingEarthWeb project), and its Riverina and Canberra Region Presbyteries.  The Catholic Church is represented through the Catholic Earthcare Australia organisation. A number of other civil and community organisations are being invited to join the reference group as well.

Currently the Reference Group comprises: Chairperson Dr Miriam Pepper (Uniting Church), Ms Jacquie Remond (Catholic Earthcare Australia), Mr Simon Habel (Catholic Earthcare Australia), Adj. Assoc. Prof. John Goss (Hackett Uniting Church and Canberra Presbytery), Prof. John Williams (Kippax Uniting Church and ANU), and Mr Chris mcAlpine (Uniting Strategic Engagement Unit).
